What’s Happening?

Wow! Did you miss us?   We have missed you so much while we opened up our new web site and email system. We are up and running with much to add and much to learn (especially adding photos). Please let us know how we are doing and what we need to add. The web site ( is a basic one, but now we can continue building on it ourselves and try to stay current. If you miss one of our emails, we will also be posting classes and announcements on the site.

So much has been happening at the shop that it is hard to remember everything we want to share with you today. The Open House for our ‘Artisans Center of Virginia’ artists was a lovely event. The pottery, jewelry, baskets, felted scarves, and quilt hangings are such amazing creations and make a wonderful addition to our inventory. Please be sure to check these rotating items for the perfect piece for yourself or a gift.   New tea pots and various sized pitchers arrived today.

Several of our regular needlepointers enjoyed a two-day retreat at the 4H Center. They had a great time stitching, eating, and visiting. Their Harvest Moon group projects with several new stitches are almost finished and folks are getting excited about their next big adventure.

A new class has been added to our class list: Lacy Shawl: a great project for folks ready for basic lace work. This shawl has traditionally been done in one of our lovely wool/silk blends, currently on sale. Fridays, June 8 and 15, 10:00-12:00. $20.00

‘Tis the season for yarn rep visits and our trade show, so new yarns are already rolling in. We are offering more of the popular twirly scarf yarns and an eyelash yarn, given the continued demand for these favorites. We are suckers for beautiful silk yarns, and have two new spectacular ones: Artyarns’ Ensemble Light and KFI’s Luxury Silk with its complimentary Luxury Mohair. All these yarns are hand-dyed and incredible. Artyarns also has amazing new shawl kits. Our other newest yarn is Sublime’s DK Egyptian Cotton with great adult and children’s patterns.

School is over soon, beach trips begin, gardening is in full swing, but you will still be inside in the air-conditioning and need a stitching project!  Needlepointers have been enjoying our exclusive Roanoke Squirrel and other new canvases. We have been busy knitting several summer tops and are excited to share with you fun patterns and the summer yarn choices. Spring has been good to us with more seasonable temperatures, but you will appreciate these cool tops.

Join us for stitching, visiting, shopping, and fun times.
